May 18, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12300 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) that occurred about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday (May 17).
The identity of the male victim, 31, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Officer Y. Haq reported:
The driver of a gray Chevrolet Camaro was traveling inbound on the Northwest Freeway when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the guard wall. The vehicle became disabled and the driver was able to steer it to the far right lane, where it stopped and did not move any further. The driver stated he put his emergency flashers on and waited for emergency assistance. The victim, operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle, was also driving inbound and struck the back of the Camaro. The motorcyclist died at the scene. Following the crash, the passenger of the Camaro had a seizure and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Camaro was not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
