Investigation into Fatal Crash at 15800 Eastex Freeway
July 21, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 15800 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 10:55 p.m. on Monday (July 20).
The male victim, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer M. Reyes reported:
The victim was driving a tan GMC Envoy southbound on the Eastex Freeway when he failed to maintain a single lane and left the main lanes of the freeway. Upon entering the service road, the GMC began to roll before coming to rest in an adjacent field. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in this crash.
Prior to the crash, it is believed the driver may have suffered a medical episode, the nature of which will be determined by an autopsy examination.
