Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2900 Laura Koppe
July 6, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2900 Laura Koppe about 11:05 p.m. last Friday (July 3).
The suspect, Maria Guadalupe Udave (H/f, 34), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 183rd State District Court. A photo of Udave is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased female victim, 58, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer B. Roberts reported:
Udave was driving a gray Nissan Armada SUV westbound on Laura Koppe while the victim was driving a gray Toyota Camry eastbound on Laura Koppe. Udave's SUV swerved into the eastbound lanes, crashing head-on into the Camry. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Udave, believed to have been intoxicated, was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and to provide a mandatory blood draw.
Udave apparently was arguing with a male passenger when the crash occurred. The passenger fled on foot after the crash.
