January 26, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 10157 Westview #54 about 4:10 p.m. on Saturday (January 24).  

The suspect, James Barnard, (b/m, 47), is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  A photo of suspect Barnard is attached to this news release.  

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Officers T. A. Miller and J. Saldana reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in-progress call at the above address and found the victim deceased on the floor of the residence.  Barnard, who was detained at the scene, had suffered stab wounds and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital to be treated.  

Further investigation determined the couple had gotten into a domestic dispute and, at some point, Barnard shot and killed her.
