February 23, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7400 Bellfort about 12:55 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 20).

The identity of the female victim, 53, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant W. Shields and Officer T. Tosso reported:

The driver of a gray Dodge pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Bellfort near Telephone Road when the victim attempted to cross the street, not in a designated crosswalk. The driver, seeing the victim in the roadway, attempted to change lanes to avoid her. However, the victim was struck by the pickup truck. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The female driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and did not show any signs of intoxication. She was questioned and released.
