February 6, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3200 Hamilton about 8:50 a.m. today.

The male victim, 84, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer T. Riley reported:

The driver of a black Dodge Caravan was traveling southbound on Hamilton when the mini-van struck a blue Dodge Avenger whose driver was running a red light while traveling eastbound on Elgin. The Avenger was then pushed onto the sidewalk where the vehicle struck the victim, a school crossing guard.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is continuing.
