Surveillance Video, Photos in Check Cashing Robbery Investigation
February 5, 2015 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying several suspects wanted in at least four robberies of check cashing businesses in southwest Houston since January.
The suspects are described only as three to four black males between 18 and 22 years of age, about 6 feet tall and weigh between 160 to 190 pounds.
Surveillance video of the suspects can be viewed on the HPD YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/wKyZ8EkzcqA. One suspect was wearing distinct white and black gloves and Air Jordan 6 Promised Land basketball sneakers. Another suspect wore a dark-colored hoodie with a distinct logo on the back. Surveillance photos of the suspects are attached to this news release.
The incidents occurred at the following locations:
- 6345 Windswept about 11:30 a.m. on January 21
- 6375 Skyline Drive about 10 a.m. on January 16
- 3226 Fondren about 9:20 a.m. on January 7
- 6277 Bissonnet Street about 9:50 a.m. on January 5
In each incident, the suspects enter the store and try to pry open the door to the security booth with a crowbar. Another suspect enters through the ceiling to bypass the security doors and lets the other suspects in. The suspects then flee the scene after the robbery in stolen Dodge vehicles, which were later recovered near the robbery locations. In at least two of the incidents, shots were fired at the bullet-proof glass of the booth, but no one was injured.
Anyone with information on the identities of the wanted suspects in these cases is urged to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0900 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
