HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Brady and J. Burton reported:
Two suspects, a male and female, entered a residence at the above address without authorization. The male suspect went into a bedroom where two adults and three children were sleeping. The male suspect began attacking the sleeping adult male, punching and pistol-whipping him. The male victim struggled with the suspect, took control of his gun and then shot the suspect one time. Paramedics were called and transported the suspect to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The female suspect fled the scene, but called police and turned herself in for questioning. All persons involved in the incident know each other and it appears the incident stemmed from a dispute over money.
