Investigation into Fatal Crash at 975 North Loop East
August 3, 2015 - A man critically injured in a crash that occurred at 975 North Loop West (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 12:10 a.m. on July 23 has died from his injuries.
The victim, James Oliver, 27, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him dead on Saturday (August 1).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer M. Rios reported:
The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was traveling westbound on the North Loop East when he struck a white GMC Sonoma, which appeared to be stopped in a moving lane of traffic. Both vehicles then veered to the right and struck a black Chevrolet Suburban. The driver of the Sonoma was transported to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the Suburban was transported to the Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition. The driver of the trailer-truck was not injured.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
