September 29, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12400 South Sam Houston Parkway West about 4:50 a.m. on Saturday (September 27).   

The male victim, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:  

The victim was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on the Sam Houston Parkway and failed to control his speed.  The pickup veered off the road and struck a concrete barrier.  The victim, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle into a bayou below the roadway.  The HPD Dive Team responded to the scene and recovered the victim's body.  

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
