September 15, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 8600 Winkler about 3:55 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 14).

The suspect, Juan Manuel Alba-Alonso (H/m, 40), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #15.  A photo of Alba-Alonso is attached to this news release. 

The identity of the victim, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer C. Washington reported:

The suspect was driving a green Nissan Titan northbound on Winkler and the victim was driving an orange Honda motorcycle westbound on Garland.  The motorcyclist failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and was struck by the Nissan.  The motorcyclist died at the scene.  The driver of the Nissan was questioned and determined to be under the influence of alcohol.  He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then booked into jail.
