September 10, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12900 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 9).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 56, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer J. Crisler reported:

The victim was driving a grey Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on the East Freeway when he failed to maintain a single lane and left the roadway.  The truck drove through a line of bushes separating the freeway and the service road, went back onto the freeway and then struck a guard rail.  The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  It is believed the victim suffered a medical episode prior to the accident.  No other persons nor vehicles were involved in this accident.

The investigation is continuing.
