September 3, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian traffic accident at 500 West Little York about 7:20 a.m. today (September 3).

The identity of the female victim, 6, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer D. Henley reported:

The juvenile female walked southbound from a parking lot and into the street.  A black Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling westbound on West Little York when it struck the child.  The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The male driver of the Mitsubishi remained at the scene and was questioned and released without charges.

The investigation is continuing.
