September 2, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5000 Texas Spur 5 about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday (August 31).
The female victim, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Rubio reported:
The victim was driving a gray Dodge Durango and had gotten into an accident with a gray Chevrolet Impala at another location, and fled the scene southbound on Texas Spur 5. The Impala followed the Durango a short distance and saw the vehicle (Durango) drive up an embankment at Old Spanish Trail and Spur 5. The Durango then went airborne, struck utility pole support wires and crashed in an open field. The driver of the Durango died at the scene. The persons in the Impala were not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
