October 28, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 4400 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 7:25 a.m. today.

The identity of the female victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer D. Henley reported:

The victim was driving a red Ford Ranger pickup truck eastbound in the 4400 block of the East Freeway service road when she failed to control her speed and struck a black Toyota Camry. The pickup truck then left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the pickup truck, a male, 15, and a female, 14, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
