October 10, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 6500 State Highway 288 about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 9).

The female victim, 45, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Her identification is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer M. Rios reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to reports a pedestrian was walking in the southbound lanes of State Highway 288. Upon arrival at the above address, they found the woman lying on the freeway. She had apparently been struck by an unknown vehicle whose driver then fled the scene.
