November 7, 2014 - Houston police homicide investigators have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 16250 Imperial Valley Drive about 12:35 a.m. on Nov. 1.
The suspected shooter is described only as a black male in his 20s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. A composite sketch of the suspect is attached to this news release.
A second possible suspect was described only as a black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. No composite sketch of this suspect is currently available. Both suspects were seen in a vehicle believed to be a red two-door Honda, driven by the second suspect.
The victim, Edgar Tapia, 21, of the above address, was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported:
Mr. Tapia was walking back to his apartment with his wife and children after arriving there from visiting family members. As they walked through the apartment complex, they were confronted by a black male who displayed a gun. Tapia told his wife and children to run, which they did. The wife heard one gunshot and returned to find her husband suffering a gunshot wound to the side of his body. Paramedics arrived and transported Tapia to the hospital where he died hours later after surgery.
