May 28, 2014 - Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two women and one man at 7400 Hillmont #3201 about 6:10 p.m. on Sunday (April 27).
Jacory Tyrell Chatham (b/m, 24) is charged with capital murder in the 339th State District Court. A photo of Chatham is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the deaths of Marlene Campos (43), Sergio Bentancourt (55) and Caren Texis-Villada (25) who were pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported:
A neighbor found Ms. Campos, Mr. Bentancourt and Ms, Texis-Villada inside the apartment at the above address. All three sustained gunshot wounds. The front door of the apartment was kicked in and the inside of the apartment was in disarray.
Further investigation led to the identification of Chatham as a suspect in the deaths of Campos, Bentancourt and Texis-Villada, and, on May 26, he was arrested without incident.
HPD Homicide Division was assisted by the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI Human Trafficking Squad, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the HPD Vice Division, Human Trafficking Squad. The address was confirmed to be a location of prostitution and Castillo was arrested in connection to the prostitution.
A suspect, Mariam Suyapa Castillo (H/f, 43), has been arrested and charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution in the 337th State District Court. A photo of Castillo is also attached to this news release.
Two additional suspects, described only as black males, remain at-large.
