May 27, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 1325 Sheffield Boulevard about 6:20 a.m. on May 9.
The suspect, Daniel J. Silva (H/m, 24), is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Angel Celso Reyes, 39, and causing injuries to a second male, Josue Garza, 31. A photo of suspect Silva is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Officer M. Burrow reported:
Mr. Reyes and a male suspect got into an argument in the parking lot of a bar at the above address but were then separated. The suspect then got into his vehicle, a four-door, dark blue Honda Accord or Civic, and accelerated toward Reyes and Mr. Garza. Garza was struck by the vehicle, which continued driving and struck Reyes. The suspect exited his vehicle and again exchanged words with Reyes. The suspect then produced a gun, shot Reyes more than once and immediately fled the scene. Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene and Garza was transported to an area hospital with a broken arm.
Further investigation led to the identity of Daniel Silva as the suspect in this case. Silva was arrested last Thursday (May 22) and confessed to his role in this incident.
