May 27, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 8300 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 6:35 a.m. on Sunday (May 25).

The suspect, Victor Sanchez, 21, is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court.  A photo of Sanchez is not available for release at this time.  

The identity of the male victim, 35, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer D. Ashford reported:

A male was driving a red Chevrolet Impala the wrong way on the East Freeway and struck a green Chevrolet Cavalier.  Both vehicles spun and the Cavalier caught fire.  The victim, the driver of the Cavalier, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Impala transported to Ben Taub General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.  He was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged.
