Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1325 Sheffield Boulevard

May 12, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1325 Sheffield Boulevard about 6:20 a.m. last Friday (May 9).  

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  A second male, identified as Josue Garza, 31, suffered a broken left arm and was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Officer M. Burrow reported:  

The victim and a male suspect got into an argument in the parking lot of a bar at the above address but were then separated.  The suspect then got into his vehicle and accelerated at a high rate of speed toward the victim and Mr. Garza.  Garza was struck by the vehicle, which continued driving and struck the victim.  The suspect then exited his vehicle and again exchanged words with the victim.  The suspect then produced a handgun, shot the victim more than once and immediately fled the scene.  

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds and has a light complexion.  He was last seen driving a 1995 to 2000 four-door, dark blue Honda Accord or Civic.
