March 24, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 1500 East Loop South (East Interstate Highway 610 South) about 3:20 a.m. on Saturday (March 22).

The suspect, Danny Sandoval (H/m, 24), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #10.  A photo of Sandoval is attached to this news release.

The identity of the female victim, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer D. Henley reported:

The victim was driving a gray Honda Civic northbound on the East Loop when her vehicle struck a concrete wall and went back into a moving lane of traffic.  The Honda was then struck by a white Jeep Wrangler, driven by Sandoval.  The female driver was killed and her male passenger, 23, suffered non life-threatening injuries. Sandoval, who was not injured, was questioned and then taken into custody.
