The victim, Aaron James Francis, 22, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Poole and Senior Police Officers S. Straughter and R. Cervantes reported:

Mr. Francis, along with one female and another male, were eating inside Francis' vehicle in a parking lot at the above address.  As they were about to drive off, another vehicle cut in front of them and then pulled up next to Francis' vehicle.  Francis became angry and exchanged words with the driver of the other vehicle.  At that time, a rear seat passenger of the suspect vehicle fired one shot, which struck the right front passenger window and then Francis.  The other persons inside Francis' vehicle were not injured.

After being shot, Francis accelerated his vehicle, sped out of control and struck the east side wall of the "Iglesia Evangelica" Church and came to a stop.  Francis died at the scene.

The suspects, described only as two black males and one black female, fled the scene westbound on Bissonnet in a white, four-door Toyota, possibly a Camry.
