July 21, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 12300 Aldine Westfield Road about 10:55 p.m. on Saturday (July 19).

The victim, Martin Ortiz, Jr., 18, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Chavez and Senior Police Officer X. Avila reported:

Mr. Ortiz was at Keith Weiss Park at the above address when he was shot by an unknown suspect.  He was found near the swing set area of the park where paramedics pronounced him deceased.  It is unknown who Ortiz was with or why he was at the park after it had closed for the evening.  There were no witnesses at the scene when officers arrived.
