January 17, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7600 Dashwood about 2:15 p.m. today (Jan. 17).

The identity of the victim, a 3-year-old boy, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant B. Rogers and Senior Police Officer J. Ortiz reported:

The male victim was struck while walking in a parking lot of a strip shopping center at the above location. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim initially left the scene and later returned.  She was questioned, did not show any signs of intoxication and was released.  

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
