Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5000 Pershing
February 17, 2014 - Three suspects charged in the fatal shooting of a woman at 5000 Pershing about 8:10 p.m. on January 20 are now in custody.
The suspects are identified as Nestor Lorenzo Torres (H/m, 22), Glenn Earl Holmes (b/m, 24) and Mark Anthony Smith (b/m, 21). They are accused in the killing of Lupita Roman, 20, of Houston. Holmes and Smith are each charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Torres is charged with two counts of aggravated assault - serious bodily injury. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Elliott and Officer I. Duplechain reported:
Torres and Holmes got into a disturbance with a male neighbor. The neighbor and Torres agreed to fight. When the neighbor defeated Torres in the fight, Torres and Holmes ran around the corner to a large group of friends and brought them back to the fighting scene. The group threatened the neighbor and his family. At some point, the male neighbor was shot multiple times and Ms. Roman was shot once. The neighbor survived his injuries, but Roman later died on Feb. 2 at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Investigators arrested Torres on Jan. 23, Smith on Feb. 2 and Holmes last Friday (Feb. 14).
