February 11, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3300 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 9:35 a.m. on Monday (Feb. 10).

The male victim, 48, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer I. Jefferson reported:

The victim was driving a white Freightliner tractor trailer westbound on the Katy Freeway when he apparently locked the vehicle's brakes causing it to strike a gray Ford Taurus, also traveling westbound. The tractor trailer then rolled over, killing the driver.

The female driver, 38, of the Taurus and a male passenger, 12, were transported to Northwest Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
