August 21, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6600 West Sam Houston Parkway Service Road (Beltway 8) about 7:10 p.m. yesterday.
The male victim's identity, 55, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kung and Officer S. Le reported:
The driver of a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Beltway when he approached the intersection at Rockwell Boulevard. The victim was driving a green Jeep eastbound on Rockwell when he ran a red light, was struck by the Toyota, and then struck a traffic signal pole. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General where he was later pronounced dead.
