April 7, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10400 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 6:10 a.m. on Sunday (April 6).
The male victim, 61, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Riley reported:
The victim was backing a silver Hummer H3 northbound in the southbound lanes of the North Loop East when he was struck by a white tractor-trailer. The Hummer then struck a concrete barrier dividing the north and southbound lanes of the highway. The driver of the 18-wheeler remained at the scene, was not impaired and was released.
