September 23, 2013 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 4200 Airline Drive about 3:55 a.m. on September 11.

The suspects, James Larron Ward, Jr. (b/m, DOB: 7-30-93) and Charles Peron Nickerson (b/m, DOB: 1-15-80), are charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  They are accused in the killing of Roderick Culpepper, 44.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting in-progress call and found Mr. Culpepper in the street with multiple gun shot wounds.  Paramedics pronounced Culpepper dead at the scene. 

Further investigation led to the identities of Ward and Nickerson as suspects in this case and they were arrested last Friday (Sept. 20) without incident.
