September 03, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14500 Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West) about 6:25 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 1).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 50, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer T. Riley reported:

The victim was driving a gray Honda CRV when the vehicle veered to the right and struck a barrier.  The impact caused the vehicle to go airborne, flip over and then catch fire when it stopped in the mainlanes of the freeway.  The driver was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other persons or vehicles were involved in the accident.
