October 17, 2013 - Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested and charged in an assault of a woman who died Monday (Oct. 14) following an incident at 4700 Robertson on January 23, 2013.
The suspect, Darryl Wayne Tindol (w/m, DOB: 5-2-66), is now charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. He was arrested and charged in July with aggravated assault of a family member for his role in the critical injuries to his wife, Susan P. Harper, 53, in the January incident.
A photo of Tindol is attached to this news release.
Ms. Harper died of her injuries on Monday (Oct. 14). Thus, charges against Tindol were upgraded to murder.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Officer K. McDonald reported:
Back on January 23, witnesses reported seeing a woman (Ms. Harper) on fire and running near vehicles in the parking lot at the above address. The witnesses stopped and helped put out the flames on her body and called for police and fire department personnel.
Investigators later learned the woman was a victim of domestic violence and filed charges against her husband, Tindol.
Medical personnel at Memorial Hermann Hospital pronounced Harper deceased on Monday from the injuries she suffered nine months earlier.
