November 4, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6100 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 9:55 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 1).

The identity of the male victim, 26, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer K. Heaverlo reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was standing in the main lanes of the North Loop East waving at traffic and stepping in front of vehicles.  Numerous vehicles swerved to avoid striking him.  A gray Jeep Cherokee, headed eastbound on the freeway, was unable to swerve and struck the male.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Cherokee did not show any signs of intoxication and was released.
