March 05, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 11600 block of the Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) about 3 a.m. today (March 5). 

The identity of the male victim, who died at the scene, is pending verification by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer T. Van reported: 

The victim was driving a black Toyota 4Runner westbound on the Northwest Freeway when the vehicle veered off the right shoulder and then went back on to the freeway.  The 4Runner then struck the middle concrete barrier and spun around.  The driver was ejected from the vehicle.  It is believed he was then struck by other vehicles traveling on the freeway. 

The investigation is continuing.
