July 29, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4900 block of Reed Road about 8:10 p.m. on Sunday (July 28).
The victim, 25, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer L. Galvan reported:
The driver of a white Acura RLX, traveling southbound on Jutland, was stopped at the intersection of Reed Road. After verifying traffic was clear, the Acura pulled into the intersection and stopped in the middle to ensure the eastbound lanes were clear before continuing. According to wtinesses, the victim was operating a Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed, traveling westbound in the turn only lane of Reed Road and doing a wheelie. The motorcycle then struck the Acura. The victim was transported to the hospital where he died.
There are no indications alcohol was a factor in the accident.
