July 10, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8200 Woodward about 2:10 p.m. today (July 10).

The identity of the deceased female, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kung and Officer R. Klementich reported:

The victim was driving a gray Buick Rendezvous northbound on Woodward while the driver of a blue Pontiac Bonneville was traveling eastbound on Stassen.  The driver of the Pontiac ran the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the Buick.  The stop sign is obscured by hanging tree branches.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the Pontiac's driver was transported to St. Joseph's for treatment.  The driver of the Pontiac did not exhibit any signs of impairment.

The investigation is continuing, with no charges filed at this time.
