July 8, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6600 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 6:20 p.m. last Friday (July 5).  

The male victim, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the acene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant B. Rogers and Officer S. Coke reported:  

The driver of a gray Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound on the 610 North Loop East when he saw a male jump over the freeway barrier from the eastbound lanes and walk into the westbound lanes of traffic.  The driver tried to swerve to avoid the male, but struck him.  The male died at the scene.  The driver did not show any signs of impairment.
