January 15, 2012 - **NOTE TIME AND LOCATION OF INVESTIGATOR AVAILABILITY**
Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of another at 5829 South Gessner about 3:30 a.m. on December 3, 2012.
Silas Armando Najera-Hernandez, 23, of Houston, and a second male shooting victim were transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where Mr. Najera-Hernandez was pronounced dead. The second male, 20, suffered non life-threatening wounds and was treated and released from the hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Blain and Senior Police Officer M. Condon reported:
Mr. Najera-Hernandez and three other males were in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, driving around the parking lot of the "Bar Uno" at the above address and playing loud music. After circling the parking lot a few times, the truck parked behind a dark green SUV (possibly a Toyota 4Runner). Within moments, one or more of the individuals in the SUV fired shots at the Ford F-150, striking the driver’s side multiple times. Najera-Hernandez was killed and a second male was wounded. The suspects fled in the SUV.
The suspects are described only as Hispanic males in their 20s. The driver of the wanted green SUV is described as tall, heavyset and bald. The passenger had a regular build and was wearing a dark baseball hat. Witnesses reported that both suspects spoke Spanish during the incident.
A photo of a Toyota 4Runner similar to the wanted suspects' vehicle is attached to this news release.
Anyone with information on the wanted green 4Runner or the identity of the shooter(s) is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
At 10 a.m. TODAY (Tuesday, Jan. 15), an investigator in the HPD Homicide Division will be available to answer questions in this case in the Media Briefing Room on the first floor of HPD Headquarters at 1200 Travis.
