January 14, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 1900 Tidwell about 10:05 p.m. last Saturday (Jan. 12).

Jose Ramirez Rodriguez (H/m, DOB:  9-19-64) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 184th State District Court.  No photo of Rodriguez is available at this time.

The male victim was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officers N. Rosenblatt and K. Hines reported:

Rodriguez was driving a gray Nissan Sentra eastbound in the westbound lane in the 1900 block of Tidwell.  His Nissan struck a gold Toyota Corolla head-on.  Rodriguez was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  His passenger was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The female driver of the Corolla was not hurt.
