February 14, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 9200 block of the South Freeway (State Highway 288) about 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 13).

Darrius James Broussard, 26, was pronounced dead at that scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The victim was operating a red CBR100 Honda motorcycle northbound on the South Freeway at a high rate of speed when he popped a wheelie. As the motorcycle came down, the victim lost control of the bike and struck the outside guardrail. He was then thrown from the bike and onto the freeway. No other vehicles nor persons were involved in this accident.

The investigation is continuing.
