December 16, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 9400 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 15).

The male victim, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A second male victim, 22, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The driver of a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on the Gulf Freeway when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete barrier. Both the driver and a male passenger were ejected from the vehicle. At this time, it has not been determined which man was the driver of the pickup truck.

The investigation is continuing.
