Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Death of Female at 8500 Tate Street
December 9, 2013 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a female found at 8500 Tate Street about 2:30 p.m. on July 8.
The suspect, Dennis Wayne Greer (b/m, DOB: 12-29-80), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is currently held in the Harris County jail on unrelated charges. A photo of Greer is attached to this news release.
The victim, Jonequa Brewster, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M.L. Holbrook, T. Richardson, Senior Police Officer P. Vela and Officer I. Ulloa reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call at the above address and found Ms. Brewster in a ditch on the side of the street. She was partially covered with what appeared to be a comforter and a towel.
An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences concluded Brewster had been shot. Further investigation identified Greer as a suspect in this case and, last Friday (Dec. 6), he was charged with murder.
