Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 11600 Katy Freeway
December 2, 2013 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 11600 block of the Katy Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 8 p.m. on Saturday (November 30).
The suspect, Ashley Tran (w/f, DOB: 10-20-73), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 183rd State District Court. A photo of suspect Tran is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 58, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant B. Rogers and Officer Michon reported:
Tran was driving a white Nissan Maxima eastbound on the Katy Freeway service road when she entered the exit ramp of the freeway, traveling the wrong direction. The victim, operating a maroon Honda Goldwing motorcycle westbound on the freeway, struck the Maxima. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Tran was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries. She was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody.
