August 14, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of two women at 239 Emerson #9 about 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday (August 13).

The identities of both females are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Parker and Senior Police Officer S. Straughter reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to the above address after 9-1-1 operators received a call reporting a murder/suicide. Officers arrived and found one deceased female inside the apartment. While checking for other possible victims, officers found a second female in the bedroom, armed with a gun.Officers gave the female repeated verbal commands, however she was unresponsive.The HPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team responded to the scene and, a short time later, secured the location.

Further investigation by SWAT officers determined the second female had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was also deceased.

The investigation is pending autopsy results on both females.
