Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man's Death at 4235 Barberry
August 7, 2013 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal beating of a man found at 4235 Barberry about 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 6).
The suspect, Joseph Leonard Ellis (b/m, DOB: 10-13-79), is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. A photo of Ellis is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. McStravick and T. Simmons reported:
The victim and Ellis got into a confrontation in which Ellis struck the victim with a flashlight and a stick. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, Ellis was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
