April 15, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident in the 500 block of McGowen about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday (April 14).

The female victim, 46, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer J. Perrotte reported:

The victim was about to enter a vehicle on the driver's side, parked in the 500 block of McGowen, when she was struck by a white Toyota F.J. Cruiser truck driving eastbound on McGowen. The driver of the Toyota did not stop and fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital where she died.
