April 8, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3000 block of the East Loop (East Interstate Highway 610) North about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday (April 7).

The identity of the female victim, 24, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer O. Lewis reported:

The victim was driving a grey Chrysler 300 northbound on the east loop when her vehicle crashed into a barricade. The vehicle then veered to the left and struck the center retainer wall. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A female passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved in this accident.
