April 8, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident in the 13400 block of the Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday (April 7).

The identity of the male victim, 50, of Houston, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The victim was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of the Northwest Freeway on foot when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, which did not stop. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, there is no description of the driver (suspect) or the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
