October 23, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 11900 block of the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 7:10 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 22).

The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Senior Police Officer T. Nguyen reported:

A citizen called 911 to report a suspected drunk driver. As that citizen was on the phone, the driver of the silver Ford F-150 pickup truck failed to maintain a single lane, swerved onto the shoulder lane and struck the trailer of a disabled 18-wheeler. The driver was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics.
