October 22, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10700 South Freeway (State Highway 288) about 8:35 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 21).

The male victim, Amado Huerta, 44, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer T. Hines reported:

Mr. Huerta was operating a maroon Honda Goldwing motorcycle and traveling northbound on the South Freeway. The driver of a silver Pontiac Grand Am made an unsafe lane change into Huerta's lane and struck his motorcycle, causing him to be thrown onto the roadway.

The female driver of the Grand Am was examined by an officer with the HPD DWI Task Force and was not believed to be impaired.

The investigation is continuing.
